"M.O.T.W. #101: Rey Hechicero vs. Bandido" - ink & digital illustration
This Lucha Libre classic ROH World Championship match took place just last week on August 29th, 2025 at Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor PPV event at the ECW Arena!
So on paper, this match sounded absolutely incredible & shockingly it turned out that it very much was just that! I've got a lot of love for both of these dudes who clawed their way from being highlights of the Mexican Lucha indie scene to the spotlight of the entire Pro Wrestling world. But even having no idea of their prior history, there is no way anyone could not say that this totally rocked!
Everything about this was just such a delight to watch. We got the classic llaveo Lucha wizardry that is Hechicero's wheelhouse. Everything you expect out of the amazing luchador that is Bandido. A wonderfully heated rudo vs tecnico dynamic throughout. Combined with just the right amount of PWG style insanity. And I couldn't help but think it so fitting that this amazing American Lucha Libre Mexicana showcase took place in the same building as the ECW 'Extreme Lucha' introduction from near 30 years ago. ...Here's hoping this is what the current incarnation of ROH continues to be!
