This absolutely tremendous, totally wild, gritty FIGHT of a Dog Collar match took place during last years' Mania weekend on April 4th, 2024 at the first ever 'ACTION DEAN~!!!' tribute show (for the legendary Dean Rasmussen of DVDVR fame) at the wonderfully atmospheric dungeon of depravity that is the H2O Wrestling Centre in Williamstown, NJ.
So I heard great things about this when it happened but after witnessing it for myself, it was somehow even better than my lofty expectations. This thing was WILD in every way. Totally rough-around-the-edges, dirty & amazingly physical in the best of ways. This scratched an itch for my Pro Wrestling tastes of something that is so sorely missing from most of today's overly sanitised American TV wrasslin' presentation. This felt like a Sangre Chicana or LA Park crimson-soaked Lucha-brawl of years gone by. There was a palpable intensity in the air. Feelings of danger, of 'unsafe', of not knowing what is going to happen next, & of possible lawsuits arising in the aftermath (that I think is really something very central to some of my wrasslin' passions).
I can safely say that this match renewed my faith in contemporary American Professional Wrestling.
This was wild & wooly & made me feel alive to watch. This definitely deserves a spot amongst the greatest Dog Collar matches of all time. Right up there with Piper vs Valentine & The Briscoes vs FTR for me.
