Hi friends! I’m back with our regularly scheduled ‘Match of the Week’ illustration & once again, I’m sure this weeks’ instalment comes as no surprise to anyone.
This terrific bout of Professional Wrestling goodness took place at this past weeks’ AEW Dynasty PPV on April 21st, 2024 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.
Another instalment of what's ended up being much of the time my ‘AmericanDragon match of the week’ as we continue on this incredible final full-time year of one of the best to ever do it. And his opponent in Ospreay ain’t half bad either.
Dude, what can you even say about this one other than this is clearly the top end of match quality for contemporary North American Pro Wrestling. As someone who grew up on the passionate niche of Ring of Honor; getting VHS & DVDs in the mail of matches in front of maybe 500 other fanatical die-hard weirdos, that were hyped up on the darkest corners of wrestling-nerd forums, it’s really cool to see this style of wrestling appreciated by the masses. This reminded me a lot of the feeling I got when I watched Danielson’s classics vs Paul London or Roderick Strong on physical media back in the day. All in all, I think it’s just about passion & seeing that totally embodied by two guys who clearly love this thing so very much. To say that they’re two of the very best in the world is no hyperbole. This really felt special from start to finish & overall made me very happy to watch.
