Hi there pals & happy Dia De La Independencia to all of my Mexicano amigos! Today I thought I'd commemorate this very special day in Mexico with another excerpt from my latest solo show at The Scratch (Chris Things 2025: "Los Luchadores vs Alien Invaders"). Loosely inspired by the timeless 'Dollars Trillogy', here we see El Santo & Blue Demon on horseback in a classic western desert landscape as our invader friends make their ominous approach in the background.
Artists' Note: I'd say this was one of the hero-pieces of the show. It came in the middle-portion of the 'creating-madness' period from memory. So some time after I had lost most of my marbles in the fever dream that is the making part of these solo shows. I'm quite happy with how it came out; a tribute to a bunch of semi-obscure interests close to my heart. Lucha Libre Mexicana, Spaghetti Westerns & UFO conspiracy rabbit-holes. I think this is one of those paintings I look back at & I feel it pushed me to further refine my painting abilities & just what is 'Chris Things Art' in the year 2025.
