So I'm a little bit sadly finally back home in Australia but I'm happy to be bringing you one last Lucha Libre Mexicana special edition of our 'Match of the Week' illustration series to cap off an absolutely wonderful trip.
So this week is a little different to usual as rather than a singular 'match' per say, I decided to go with the overall insane experience that was Zona 23 'Rey Del Deshuesadero 2025' from this past weekend, on Sunday afternoon, April 13th, 2025 in the infamous Junkyard in Tultitlan, Estado de Mexico.
There were so many insane matches & moments & just overall amazing 'vibes' from start to finish that I really couldn't pick out a singular one to say "this was a really great match you need to check out" as much as I will just say that everyone owes it to themselves to witness in-person the incredible freakshow (& cultural experience) that is Zona 23!
There were some amazing matches had throughout the day. Including some absolutely wild stuff from Amnesia, Aeroboy, Osiris, Mr Condor, the Pigs & many others. If I had to pick an actual fav, it would be the amazing Diobolicos vs Idolos 23 tag.
But again, it was the general vibes of every weird little moment that made this such an incredible experience.
There really is something highly unique about seeing youths sweeping bloody glass & handing light tubes & assorted Deathmatch paraphernalia to the luchadores. Wild dogs roaming about ringside eating fallen chips & tortas. The sun shining through the dusty junkyard & sipping Victoria cervesas while watching some of the most spectacular Lucha Extrema violencia that you ever did see. It actually felt quite wholesome in the weirdest of ways.

I'll never forget you Zona 23. Highly recommended!
