Hi friends! Back again for this weeks’ ‘Match of the Week’ illustration & I assume nobody’s surprised by this pick.

This absolutely wonderful dream-match took place on April 5th, 2024 for CMLL in the sacred Lucha Libre grounds of Arena Mexico.

I really don’t think you can get closer to the definition of “dream-match” than this one! A match that American Dragon had been dreaming of against his Mexican Wrestling Llaveo-Maestro idol for many, many years, taking place in the most perfect building in the world for it. Some times the stars line up a bit later than one would hope & I think many of us hampered our expectations of what this could be considering that Panther is 63 years old! However, somehow that all went out the window on this night & what we got was absolutely perfect in my opinion.

The whole thing felt magical & surreal to me. A match that I’d always hoped for but never really expected. My all-time favourite Luchador finally tangling it up against my favourite contemporary Professional Wrestler & likely the “best in the world” right now - during his full-time career swan song. I smiled a lot while watching this. Truly a delight!
