Hi friends! We’re back for another addition to my “Match of the Week” series & for those who know my wrasslin’ tastes, this one likely comes as no surprise!

This terrific CMLL All-Stars vs Blackpool Combat Club bout took place this past week on March 29th at CMLL’s Homenaje A Dos Leyendas 2024 special event in the sacred home of Lucha Libre Mexicana; La Catedral De La Lucha Libre, Arena Mexico.

As some of y’all might be aware, I’ve been looking forward to American Dragon finally tangling it up with Panther in Arena Mexico for a long time, as had Dragon! Blue Panther has been my favourite luchador ever since I first discovered him in a tiny, local Australian zine in high school. It’s hard to put into words the exact appeal of the ‘Llaveo Maestro of Laguna’ but he’s definitely one of those guys who is just special to watch. I really got a sense of transcendent happiness when Danielson finally got to stand across the ring from this all-time Lucha Libre legend. This was just such a perfect match with an absolutely incredible atmosphere! Everyone in it was so great. As a long-time follower of CMLL, this match really captured the essence of the magic of Arena Mexico.

And now we get the big ‘Mano-El-Mano’ singles match between Dragon & Panther TOMORROW NIGHT!!
