Today brings us to the 134th edition of our Chris Things Art 'Match of the Week' illustration series! And this week we travel to Vegas for another shockingly current selection that brought me much joy to watch.

This wonderfully gritty, crimson-soaked display of hatred somehow took place as the main event of this years WrestleMania; this past Sunday, April 19th, at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, NV.

So this was another one of those matches that exceeded my expectations to say the least. Over time, the house style of what makes a Mania main event has become what it has. Some may like it, but very much not my cup of tea. Therefore despite being a long-time Punker fan, I really had my doubts about this one because of the position & the setting. But my gosh, this ended up being so the opposite & the kind of match that I just adore in every way!

Once again, the heart & struggle of this match renewed my faith in current big time American wrestling, that violent "Professional Wrestling" magic can still be made. We often hear of a great "storytelling match" & most of the time when I see those, for my personal tastes they just come across so tacky & convoluted & fake. But man, THIS to me is the most perfect example of a match telling a wonderful story while also feeling like a hate-filled FIGHT!

Some of those moments like Roman repeatedly thudding Punk's bloody face against the mat were just the best kind of uncomfortable. And my gosh if Punk's selling wasn't some of the most captivating stuff I've ever seen! The wonderful staggering punch exchanges also just brought me the biggest smile! This gave me Memphis vibes! Roddy Piper vibes. I absolutely adored the Terry Funk tribute! Moments even felt reminiscent of one of my favourite matches ever; Terry vs Harley in Houston.

And how can I not mention that amazing Miseria Cantare intro for the ROH nostalgia nerd in me! This was everything. Best Roman match I've ever seen.

Easily one of the greatest mania matches ever!
