Today brings us to the 128th edition of our 'Match of the Week' illustration series! And this week we travel back to a real glory period of 2007 Ring of Honor for a true Tag Team Classic!

This total clinic & love-letter to Tag-Team Wrestling took place on April 28th, 2007 at ROH's "Good Times, Great Memories" Colt Cabana farewell show at the long time Chicago home of ROH; the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, IL. for the ROH Tag Team Titles.

So this week I ended up in a nostalgic mood (as often happens) & felt myself wanting to fire up one of my old ROH dvds to watch one of my favourite eras of one of my favourite promotions. And dang if this didn't just blow everything of today out of the water!

As you would, I had high hopes for this match between what I'd call the two greatest tag teams of their generation but this still didn't cease to amaze me! Especially considering this was very early in the tag-team run of the Motor City Machine Guns - they weren't even called that yet! I believe they hadn't even been teaming together for a year at this point but already had such a magical chemistry & bewildering tag team wrestling IQ.

This also happens to be the first official MCMG's tag match in ROH & the first of many classics against the Briscoes in the company.

Start to finish, this was just wonderful in every way. The time it got really allowed it to breath. The tag team synergy & overall flow was so incredibly cutting edge looking back now, whilst also being a love-letter to classic 80s Southern tag team wrestling & the all time greats like the Midnight Express, the Fantastics & the Rock 'n Roll Express. A match that actually ages like fine wine!

I loved both of these teams so darned much at this time - as well as this era of ROH & indie wrestling in general. Matches like this are why. All 4 guys were tremendous. R.I.P. Jay Briscoe.
