We're up to the 106th edition of our 'Match of the Week' illustration series & this week in doing my research for our next Wrestling Club, I came across something that I enjoyed oh so much!
This early 90s Wrestling Tag-Team classic took place for the IWGP Tag-Team Championships on March 21st, 1991 at New Japan Pro Wrestling & World Championship Wrestling's collaboration event; 'Starrcade 1991 In Tokyo Dome'!
So I'm quite certain I'd seen this one before but in doing something of a deep dive of these guys' spectacular Tag-Team rivalry, I went back to the start. And dang if this match (especially in front of early 90s eyes) is not just mind-blowing!
This thing is just such a great showcase for all 4 amazing wrestlers involved. It's an amazing dumb B-Grade action movie with most of the budget being spent on explosions.
I really got a sense of the Japanese fans in attendance just being in awe of the freaks of nature that were the Steiners. But There is also just so much to love about Kensuke & Hase (especially when you are a big fan of both like me). Utterly amazing how good Kensuke was this early. One of the all-time great 'rock-em-sock-em-robot' wrestlers! But dude, the heart of this thing is Hiroshi Hase. Just one of the best Professional Wrestlers that I have ever seen!
This is what Tag-Team Wrasslin' is all about! HIGHLY recommended & very worth a rewatch! So much fun!!
