Hi pals! Back at it for the 61st instalment of our ‘Match of the Week’ illustration series & this week we’ve got a total Lucha Libre classic on our hands - between two of my all-time fav Luchadores!

This Lucha clinic took place on April 18th, 2004 in Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship at Arena Coliseo de Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

So I actually had a bit of a tough time tracking this bad boy down after having it recently brought to my attention by the rad @_rakumen_ (on instagram). But it was such a tremendous payoff when I finally found it! Just so perfect in so many ways! I obviously have a big soft spot for both dudes. With the OG La Parka being a big reason why I got into CMLL initially in the early 2000s & Ultimo Guerrero being a key part of why I stayed & became a lifelong fan. Two first ballot hall-of-famers in anyone’s book!

There’s so much to appreciate here. The definition of "Esto Es Lucha"! Amazing mat wrestling, some incredibly beautiful & super impressive classic Lucha exchanges & just a tremendous, epic escalation of drama from start to finish. Very much a classic Ultimo Guerrero match in that sense. This really hammers home why 2/3 falls is just the perfect amount of falls!

Park moves like crazy in this one for a man of his size. I was blown away while watching this - thinking of both luchadores’ crazy longevity & just how long each have been two of the best Professional Wrestlers in the entire world. Dang I love Lucha Libre!
