Hi pals! We’re back for the 39th instalment of our ‘Match Of The Week’ illustration series & we’re back for another ‘llaveo’ lucha libre masterclass!

This wonderful display of pro wrestling craftsmanship took place just last week on June 22nd, 2024 for CMLL’s weekly Saturday night show at the beautiful, historic Arena Coliseo in Mexico City. The original home of CMLL & one of the longest-running, ongoing Professional Wrestling venues in existence.

So sometimes, the deal with ‘dream-matches’ in wrestling is they don’t quite hit like you’d think. Other times, they are EXACTLY what you’d expect. I was pleased to find that this was very much the latter!

Two of the very best in the game; Hechicero & ZSJ actually also tussled it up back in 2018 for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in a very fun match. It’s crazy to see how far both of these dudes (who were already excellent) have come since then!

This entire match, start to finish was just beautiful to watch. So much love for the craft of wrasslin’ on full display in every moment. The Coliseo crowd was also just fantastic & so bloody lively & loud the entire time. Just so, so good! Highly recommended!!

This match alone is worth springing for that high-tier CMLL YouTube sub I’d say!
