Hi pals! For your consideration, my ‘on-location’ from beautiful Tasmania, 38th edition of my ‘Match of the Week’ illustration series.

This terrific joshi-wrestling classic took place on September 7th, 1991 at All Japan Womens ‘AJW The Exciting Zone’ event at Korakuen Hall for the WWWA World Championship.

I LOVED this match SO MUCH! So Bull & Inoue are two of my all time favourite female wrestlers & this is such a great showcase of exactly why. Such great chemistry, both seemingly built to be perfect opponents for one another; Inoue’s fiery, undeniable heart against the massive, destructive kaiju monster that is Bull. The perfect David Vs Goliath Pro Wrestling match!

There are moments where things don’t go quite right for Inoue but she just keeps hitting her way on through with such electric charisma that it kind of makes it even better!

Also, from an aesthetic perspective, this whole thing is just incredible! From Inoue’s colourful gear & Ultimate Warrior inspired face-paint, to Bull’s incredible blue hair & Grateful Dead tee. …oh, & the Crimson-Mask!! …I really think I’ve only scratched the surface of the artworks that this match is good for.
