Hi friends! I’m back for a Melbourne edition of the ‘Match of the Week’ illustration series & this week, we’re back to the classics.

This wonderful Pro Wrestling match took place on December 1st, 1993 - on day 16 of All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Real World Tag League ‘93 at Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagoya.

So as you might have guessed, I went down a weird ‘Big Bossman travels to All Japan’ rabbit hole for this one. I read of this intriguing period of his career (after his WWF departure, just before his WCW run) & knew that I needed to look into this! Of all of the Professional Wrestling that I really love you just can’t top early 90s All Japan in terms of quality. After enjoying a few of his different All Japan matches before this one, this was the one that properly won my heart.

Such an incredible combination of the super underrated ‘workhorse big man’ that was Bubba, with one of the all-time great gaijins in Doc against one of my very favourite duos in Kawada & Taue! This match was just great Wrasslin’ from start to finish! All four guys did their bit to create something that really stands out as special with todays eyes. The crowd was also just super hype the whole time as you expect during this period of AJPW. This whole thing was just so enjoyable!
