Hi friends! Back again for week 29 of my “Match of the Week” illustration series & we’re back to a 'pro-wrestling rabbit-hole classic' instalment.

This delightful bout took place almost 29 years ago on July 7th, 1995 at NJPW’s Best Of The Super Juniors II (Day 13) at the Iwamizawa Sports Centre in Hokkaido.

So I ended up going down an Eddie rabbit hole (as we all should from time to time) that eventually lead me to this undiscovered gem addition to one of Professional Wrestling’s all-time great rivalries. I’ve always adored all of Eddie & Dean’s amazing matches in Extreme Championship Wrestling but somehow had never watched this New Japan Pro Wrestling instalment - that just happened to take place amidst the aforementioned ECW series!

I totally loved this one for all of the reasons I love their ECW classics. Just such wonderfully tight, fast-paced, aggressive wrestling & more than anything just a fantastic, once in a lifetime level of chemistry. The appreciative Hokkaido crowd really added a whole other element of enjoyment to it; totally different to the rabid ECW Arena crowd but still so into everything they were getting here.
