Today brings us to the 143rd edition of our Chris Things Art 'Match of the Week' illustration series! And this week we travel to 1986 San Juan, Puerto Rico for another Ol' Dirty Funker classic that brought me oh so much joy!

This wonderfully unique match took place in WWC/Capitol Sports Promotions 13th Aniversario '86 (the Final of the WWC Universal Heavyweight Title Tournament) on September 21, 1986, at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.

So upon recording yesterday's return podcast in honour of my current solo art show at The Scratch ("Los Luchadores vs. The Cryptids") and the one night only return of Wrestling Club - I was rewatching some of the matches of the evening & man I just totally fell in love with this wonderfully bizarre match even more!

I can see folks watching this initially & not thinking much of it, but the more you watch, the more this little gem gives! Perhaps this is The Big Lebowski of #ProWrestling matches in that way?!

From maybe the greatest pre-match promo of all time, to so many amazing little things in the match itself, this whole thing is just so enchanting! So many 'Terry-isms'!! Even the opening of tripping over his poncho brought the biggest smile to my face. The general wild selling of Carlos' fiery punches & headbutts & of course, the utterly spectacular bit of Terry getting hung up in the ropes as only he can! If you enjoy you some stumble-selling, this one is for you! And my gosh, that finishing stretch of Terry head-butting Colon, to diminishing results & getting more & more wobbly as he goes on! And ending in an outdoor rain storm?! Chef's kiss!!

Another one where it is absolutely the Terry show but I do think Carlos was perfect here as the home town hero.
