We're back for the 90th edition of our 'Match of the Week' illustration series (oh boy!). And this week we travel back to Mexico City for an absolutely wonderful 'Copa Jr. VIP' Tournament Final & a glimpse into the bright future of CMLL!

This classic 'Rudo vs. Tecnico', mano-a-mano battle took place on May 30th of this year at the Friday Night El Consejo show in what looked to be a sold-out Arena Mexico.

So this was great to me in a variety of ways. Firstly, it is the big singles match follow up to the incredible Sky Team vs. Galeon Fantasma tag that I got to see in person two months prior. It also really felt like we were seeing two of the key guys who will carry the company for many years. Two amazing luchadores who will be in many more Arena Mexico main events in the years to come & hopefully in many more matches against one another! Zandokan Jr. for sure has main event rudo written all over him!

I also really enjoyed the classic, heated tecnico vs rudo side of this. Both were just perfect in getting the most out of these roles. Good guy vs. bad guy still works folks! And when done so well in front of a super hot, sold out Arena Mexico, it doesn't get much better than that!

I also loved what might be my first time seeing an exposed turnbuckle used in all of my years of watching El Consejo! And despite it looking extremely difficult to remove, boy did they use it well!!

The future of Lucha Libre Mexicana looks bright!
