We're now up to the 98th addition to our 'Match of the Week' illustration series & this week we get another surly/crazy old man vs angry young punk match courtesy of my fav promotion ever, Pro Wrestling NOAH!
This wonderfully sadomasochistic dream-match took place on May 22nd of 2024, at NOAH's excellent Star Navigation 2024 ~ One Night Dream 2 ~ event at a sold-out Korakuen Hall in Suidobashi, Tokyo.
Alright, so first up I'm showing everyone once again how disastrously up to date I am on the good ship NOAH, but when it's this great, how can I possibly skip ahead?! I'm certainly glad I didn't skip past this one as it just rocked so darned hard. This so felt like a match perfectly designed for my tastes!
As frequently occurs with these things, here we see 2 of my favourites, engaging in some of the most weirdly beautiful brutality that I enjoyed oh so much! The visuals of this thing were just out of this world! I must say this was one of the most difficult to pick the exact moment for this drawing. I really could have done an entire series on this match alone!
This had everything for me. Great, gritty submission work, tasty, heartfelt strikes, a HECK of a crimson mask & just a wonderful array of crazy emotions, facial expressions & general total madness.
